BMW i Motorsport
Into the future with battery power
Since the 2018/19 season we present ourselves as a proud Main Partner of BMW i Motorsport in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. With this partnership, we want to become even better for you and secure the pole position in terms of battery expertise in the DIY sector. Since the beginning of the partnership, the
BMW i Andretti Motorsport mechanics have relied on the cordless freedom of Einhell's Power X-Change products in their racing garage. After all, performance, endurance, durability and innovation are considered the cornerstones of Formula E, but they are just as decisive for Einhell's cordless tools.
BMW i Andretti Motorsport Team Principal
Roger Griffith on the use of Einhell tools in Formula E
As a leading manufacturer of state-of-the-art tools for home and garden, we are presenting ourselves as the main partner of BMW i Motorsport as part of Formula E and are thus at the cutting edge of future technologies, which we are transferring to the tool sector. In addition, since the beginning of the partnership, we have been equipping the team around BMW i Andretti Motorsport with our Power X-Change tools, thus offering the mechanics cordless freedom in the racing garage. Roger Griffiths explains in the video why he and his team are so satisfied with the performance, endurance and quality of Einhell tools. Learn more about the partnership between Einhell and BMW.

ABB FIA Formula E Championship 2020/2021
Races, starting time, tracks
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship will enter its seventh season in 2020/21. Due to the Corona pandemic, in the run-up to the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Formula E and the FIA confirm an updated race calendar in blocks. Furthermore, this year's season will not open in Santiago de Chile as planned, but in the next planned venue, Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The current race calendar can be found here.
Start of the seventh season
Hot temperatures and challenging tracks
The opening race of the E-Prix and the first double-header await Formula E drivers and fans in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, on 26 and 27 February. The winding track has been part of the Formula E racing calendar since the fifth season. No other team has been as successful there as the BMW i Andretti Motorsport team: BMW has recorded three pole positions and two race wins here at previous E-Prix.
The new BMW iFE.21
Ready for the 2020/21 season
Our partner BMW i Motorsport unveiled the new BMW iFE.21 ahead of the start of the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E Championship season. BMW's expertise continues to lie primarily at the heart of the vehicle, the enhanced powertrain. The characteristics of the BMW Racing eDrive02 have been revised based on the detailed information on the individual race tracks gathered by the team in its debut season and adapted to the specific challenges of Formula E racing. We are looking forward to another season alongside BMW i Motorsport and to the first race in Diriyah.

BMW and Formula E
Formula E as a platform for the mobility of the future
Since the 2018/19 season, BMW i Andretti Motorsport has been represented as a works team in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. With the new BMW i powertrain for the BMW iFE.18 and the further developed BMW iFE.21, BMW is collecting valuable insight during the races, which will be directly incorporated into the series development of future models and engines like e.g. the iNEXT. The Formula E engine in turn is profiting from the experience of the series.
Formula E
More than just motor sport
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship is the first motor series in the world for racing cars with electric engines. So-called E-Prix races have been taking place on city courses in cities across the globe since 2014. The aim of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship is not only to entertain with the sport, but also to promote innovation for electric engine systems and demonstrate the potential of sustainable energy. In this way, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship manages to bring together sporting excellence and sustainable automotive concepts.
Special features of Formula E
Fanboost
Formula E is the only motorsport race series in the world where fans play an active role in influencing the result of the race. Formula E FANBOOST gives fans the chance to vote for their favourite driver and give them more power in the race. Voting begins 6 days before the race and ends 15 minutes before the start.
How does Fanboost work?
The five drivers with the most FANBOOST votes get more power for a short period of time, which can be used in a 5-second window in the second half of the race. In this window, the power of the Gen2 race cars is temporarily increased from 200 kW (272 hp) to 250 kW (340 hp).
